About the event

This 30-minute presentation highlights ways in which ‘real therapy’ for adults, adolescents and children involves the integration of ‘surface structure changes’ through creative and committed symptomatic work, while also attending to the ‘deeper structures of meaning’ with different levels of counselling. There will be a highlight on some of the evidence for the effectiveness of bio-psychosocial approaches to management of voice disorders from recent studies in Performance Medicine and Functional Neurological Disorders (FND), with reference to case material where possible.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion of expert members from the AVA (e.g. singing teacher, speech pathologist and laryngologist) along with Q&A time from the audience.
